Elizabeth B. Yerkes, MD

Dr. Yerkes is Director of Neurourology and Urodynamics, Co-Director of Complex Urinary Reconstruction, and Attending Physician in the Division of Urology at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. She is Professor of Urology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and holds the Myles Michelon Endowed Chair in Urology.

After earning her medical degree and completing residency at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, she went on to complete her fellowship in Pediatric Urology at Riley Hospital for Children. She cared for the children of servicemen and women at Wilford Hall US Air Force Medical Center in San Antonio for four years prior to joining the Lurie Children’s faculty in 2005.
Dr. Yerkes is the Immediate Past-President of the Societies for Pediatric Urology and in a 3 year leadership term for the American Association of Pediatric Urologists. She recently “retired” after 11 years as Fellowship Program Director at Lurie and is now the Associate Division Head of Pediatric Urology.

She is active in several multidisciplinary teams: the Spina Bifida center, SPROUT (Supportive Program for a Range of Urogenital Traits) and CARE (Collaborative Advanced Reconstruction Evaluation). Her clinical research efforts are primarily focused on neurogenic bladder and reconstruction outcomes, standardization and utilization of urodynamics, complex hypospadias, and differences of sex development (DSD).
