Hira Ahmed, MD
Dr. Hira Ahmad is a board-certified pediatric general and thoracic surgeon who specializes in congenital colorectal anomalies such as Anorectal Malformations and Hirschsprung Disease; she also has a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease, neonatal congenital anomalies, and oncology. She has special interest in MIS/Robotic surgery.
Dr. Ahmad earned her medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine. She completed her general surgery residency at Cleveland Clinic Florida, her pediatric colorectal fellowship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and her General Pediatric surgery training at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Dr. Ahmad also completed two years of pediatric colorectal clinical and translational research at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Ahmad also holds academic appointment at UC Irvine and actively participates and conducts clinical research. She has presented at several local and national meetings that have resulted in publications that changed clinical practice in pediatric colorectal surgery. She also collaborates with other institutions to contribute treatment data to a national database on outcomes for patients with colorectal disorders. This allows children’s hospitals to work together to share and discover the best care and treatment strategies for patients.
In her free time, Dr. Ahmad enjoys spending time outdoors. She enjoys doing half marathons, loves to hike, ski, fish, and exercise.
