Krystal Artis, PA-C

Growing up in Chesapeake, VA, Krystal found herself engaged in dance and orchestra, where she honed her skills as a cellist. Her love for the arts was complemented by her academic pursuits. Krystal pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of VA, where she successfully obtained dual degrees in Chemistry and Women’s Studies. Eager to expand her knowledge and make a difference in healthcare, she then pursued her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Eastern Virginia Medical School. After completing her studies, Krystal relocated to the Northern Virginia area, where she embarked on a fulfilling career at Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC). Initially, she joined the Gastroenterology department, as a member of the Intestinal Rehabilitation team. In this role, Krystal focused on a range of vital aspects, including enteral and parenteral nutrition, electrolytes, infections and antibiotics, and the treatment of bacteria overgrowth.  Driven by her thirst for growth and learning, Krystal transitioned to a new role in 2022, joining the Colorectal and Pelvic Reconstruction team at CNMC where she has specialized in bowel management and hypermotility, while also leveraging her extensive experience from her previous role. Outside of her professional life, Krystal finds joy in various activities such as indulges in music, attending concerts, and exploring her passion for baking. Above all, she cherishes spending quality time with her loved ones. Krystal’s dedication to her work is unwavering, and she consistently goes above and beyond to support her colleagues and patients. Her commitment is evident in her 15-year tenure at Children’s National Medical Center.
